FALL 2020 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS 

About the classes

Art has always been a source of healing for us and that's more true now than ever before. We look forward to having your student join our supportive community!

Students will receive a link and meeting ID (it will be sent to the email you provided when they enrolled) to join the live class on Zoom 24 hours before their first class. Please be sure to check your email for this class information, be sure to check your "promotions" and "spam" boxes. 
To protect student privacy, the Zoom session will not be recorded, so students are strongly encouraged to attend each class.
No makeups, credits, or recordings will be offered for any missed classes.


If the class must be cancelled all together by Studio Claremont, payments made may be applied to other classes or refunded. All projects are subject to change.

Please note, all online classes are scheduled for the full hour and a half to allow for possible extra time and to avoid being rushed HOWEVER some class sessions may end sooner, depending on the pace of the students.

Online Ceramics Classes 

Online Painting and Drawing Classes

Students will learn the fundamentals of clay and hand building to create wonderful ceramic projects that will last a lifetime. 
The cost of the class includes...
  • The clay
  • A clay booklet
  • A clay guide
  • The required tools
  • The firing of student projects if they are brought back to the studio in a timely manner and follow the clay guidelines.
Students will need to provide their own: 
  • Table protector (cardboard, plastic, etc.)
  • Old rag or paper towel
  • Bowl of water
  • Internet connection
  • Access to Zoom via a computer or smartphone
  • Quiet space to do their lessons
IMPORTANT: Students will have the option to have their projects...
- glazed white (shiny)by us
or
-they can purchase glaze colors on our website
or
-they can be fired with no glaze, to be painted at home with acrylic paints. 
No glaze paint is included in the price of the class. We discuss this with the students and glaze colors or acrylic paint can be purchased after classes start. 


Students enrolled in this class will have to pickup (or select delivery) to receive their materials and then drop off their finished projects to the studio in a timely manner for firing. We have a project/supply cabinet outside of the studio for easy pick up and drop off.  Our art cabinet is available 7 days a week 7am-10pm.  Projects not brought back in a timely manner will not be glazed or fired.

Student projects will have to remain in the studio for a few weeks to complete the firing process. You will receive an email when your student's ceramics are ready for pick-up. We can only hold their ceramics in the studio for a short amount of time.

Clay can be MESSY, please ensure students have an appropriate art space (we recommend the kitchen table or outside) to do their class. Studio Claremont is not responsible for art messes that may occur as a result of the class.

Students will learn the fundamentals of drawing and painting to create in both watercolor and acrylic paintings. 
No materials are included in the cost of this class and students will be required to purchase their own supplies through our website or other stores:

  • An oil pastel set 
  • Crayons (Recommended: Crayola)
  • Paint brushes (Recommended: SM, MED & LG)
  • Watercolor paper (Any thick watercolor paper will work, drawing or printer paper will not work)
  • A semi-moist watercolor paint set (Recommended: Crayola or Prang) 
  • 2 canvases - 9" x 12"
  • Acrylic Paints (Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, black)
  • Washable markers (Recommended: Crayola)
  • Black "ultra fine" permanent marker (Recommended: Sharpie)
  • Black "fine" permanent marker (Recommended: Sharpie)
  • A pencil
  • An eraser (Recommended: Pentel Hi-Polymer Eraser)
  • A table protector (cardboard, newspaper, etc.)
  • An old rag or paper towel
  • A bowl of water
Students will also need:
  • Internet connection
  • Access to Zoom via a computer or smartphone
  • A quiet space to do their lessons

Online Advanced Drawing

Students will develop various drawing and shading techniques that will be used to make their art "POP"! It is recommended that students have some previous drawing or shading experience, though it is not required and we welcome all artists ages 11-17 to join our class.
No materials are included with the purchase of this class. Students will be required to purchase their own art supplies either on our website or at any art supplier...

  • Sketch Set (Can be purchased on our website)
It is very highly recommended that your sketch kit includes...

  1. Pencils (H, HB, 2B, B, 4B, 2H)
  2. A tortillon for blending
  3. A kneaded eraser
  4. Charcoal pencils (soft, medium, hard)
  • Colored pencils (we recommend Prismacolor or ArtSkills - the Artskills Premium set can be purchased on our website)
  • Colored markers
  • An eraser ( Pentel Hi-Polymer Eraser)
  • Permanent black marker - "ultra fine" (we recommend Sharpie)
  • Permanent black marker - "fine" (we recommend Sharpie)
  • Drawing paper

Online Watercolor Painting

Students will learn the fundamentals of drawing and watercolor techniques to create wonderful original art. Watercolor techniques including resist, shading, wet-on-wet and more will be taught. 
No materials are included in the cost of this class and students will be required to purchase their own art supplies either on our website or at any art supplier:

  • An oil pastel set 
  • Crayons (Recommended: Crayola)
  • Paint brushes (Recommended: SM, MED, LG)
  • Watercolor paper (Any thick watercolor paper will work, drawing or printer paper will not work)
